Vorwerk merges Brugman with new partner
The Wuppertal-based family business Vorwerk & Co. is selling its Brugman kitchen stores in Germany to a new partner whose strategy is based on local retail through kitchen stores.
The Brugman stores in Germany will continue normal operation until March 31, 2001, after which they will be taken over by the Plana Franchise System. The distribution center in Dormagen will also be taken over by Plana. This means Brugman's 137 employees have good career prospects for continued activity in the kitchen sector. To get the new franchise business off to a good start, Vorwerk will retain a holding for a certain period. The two companies have signed a letter of intent to this effect. Plana currently runs a franchise system of 33 branches, located mainly in the Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg regions.
